About The Art for Hope Project
The goal of this virtual fundraiser is to put more art into the world and collectively make an impact on a singular cause each year. In previous years, artists have come together to raise money for NAMI - The National Alliance on Mental Illness and Wounded Warriors. This year, we are supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Our hope is that this project provides an opportunity to share your work with new audiences while also collectively making a meaningful impact on childhood cancer.
Mum’s The Word is a reduction print. Reduction prints are created by continuously carving on a single linoleum block between each layer of color. After the first layer of color is printed, more linoleum is carved away, and the second color is printed, and so on.
The result is a multi-colored print that brings out the depth and detail of the piece. These prints are very limited as they can not be reproduced. At the end of the printing process, all that remains is the last layer of color. Each previous layer has been destroyed in the process. This destructive printing process creates very limited editions of prints and is the reason why reduction prints tend to be priced in a higher bracket than a one-layer block print.

“Mum’s The Word” is printed on 5’x5” Paper, and colors are custom mixed using Cranfield Colours Calligo Safe Wash inks.
Frames in photos are not included. Mockup images are used to give you an idea of how the print will look in a frame.
